I got married at Houmas House in 2010 and still pisses me off to this day that I didnt have time to eat all the badass food we had selected. We were so busy talking and thanking guests that we never got a bite, except for when we cut our cakes. bullshite I tell ya
Hilarious. I got married there in '09 and to this very day my wife and bitch about the same exact thing. We've been hoping to get an invite to a wedding there so we can go back and experience the festivities. We did get to-go boxes but a huge glass of scotch made sure I have no recollection of what the food tasted like. Plus we had to haul arse early the next morning to catch a flight. #liveandlearn

Nice. Mrs tetu and I had our wedding at HH in 2010 as well. Are maybe two bites during the event. Wish I could have Gourged out on the deliciousness. Really enjoyed spending the afternoon tasting every option with the wedding coordinator months before the wedding though.
We stayed in the cottage at the southeast corner of the property the night of. Had more than our fair share of boxed food from the wedding waiting when we got there.

No update yet? He must have got the wine tasting...

Sorry for the late reply! We did get the tasting menu, but without the wine. We ended up getting a bottle before we decided on the tasting. Everything was fantastic!
Appetizer was pan seared scallops with a garlic and shallot beurre blanc. The second course was a butternut squash, leek, and crawfish bisque. Third course was Mahi Mahi with Papa Tom grit cake, roasted parsnips with a smoked corn coulis. Fourth course was a satsuma sorbet with a shot of Grand Marnier. Fifth course was lamb chops with goat cheese whipped potatoes and carrots. Sixth course was a cheese plate with 3 different cheeses. I can't remember all of them, but I know there was an excellent blue cheese on there. For dessert, it was a dark chocolate date cake with pecans and house made marscarpone ice cream with berry coulis.
The whole experience was great and I can't wait to get back! We decided that next time we go, we will get the tasting paired with the wine.
Thanks again for the suggestion.

How much did this cost if you don't mind me asking?
Posted on 2/21/15 at 7:06 pm to notiger1997
$100 per person for the tasting. Our bottle of wine was $35. After tax and tip it was right at $300.
If you got the tasting with wine it would be $150 per person.

Did you get there early for the Turtle Bar?
Posted on 2/21/15 at 7:15 pm to wickowick
We did not unfortunately. I tried to get the gf to leave in enough time, but of course she took longer to get ready than I wanted. Needless to say, we didn't get there till right before our reservation time of 7:30.
Already looking forward to next time so we can get the WHOLE experience.
