Late lunch/early dinner recommendations in New Orleans on Friday?

Long story short, picking up a neighbor of mine on Friday at the New Orleans airport. He's moving on Sunday and want to take him somewhere that he hasn't been and probably won't get a chance to go to again.
He lands at 2:30. I want to go to Jacques-Imo's, but I don't think they open until 5. Anything close to this area where we can have a few cocktails and appetizers first?
Or should I scrap this idea and head towards the Quarter?

The Besh restaurants are open all day, every day...AND they having amazing happy hours from 3-6. Hit up Luke for some appetizers, 50 cent oysters and 1/2 price wine and beer and well cocktails. Domenica is also a good choice with the 1/2 price pizzas and same drink specials.

Tomorrow? I thought it was Saturday? What time? I work tomorrow, but I get off at noon.

Ah...then I will likely be there. Who else will be in attendance?

Maybe my favorite happy hour in the entire city.

I went last Tuesday and you'd swear they were giving away free food. The place was PACKED. We sat at the bar and the service was still really good and so was the pizza. I love the wild mushroom with bacon and an egg.

You could get chargrilled oysters and cocktails at Drago's to start off.

Good recommendation, however he has been there many times and wanting to introduce him to something new.

Need to look into both of these. Forgive me, but I have not heard of either, which could be a good thing.

Go to Herbsaint. They are open in between lunch and dinner with a bistro menu. If weather nice, sit outside. Order a few small things, some drinks, and then mosey on down the road.

SoBou is relatively new. Set up by Tory McPhail and the Commander's Brennan family.
