Anybody care to shed a little info on what came first/which is better? Having an argument with a friend.

They don't use tenderloins. They use chicken dicks.

I just loggedin to ShaggyBevo to see if there were any similar threads over there on the GM Steakhouse board, but nothing substantial. Those guys have a really active board with some knowledgeable posters. I'm sure this debate has been discussed on TexAgs numerous times, but I don't visit their site.

Guthries is the original ... Cane's, Zaxby's, and apparently Lanes all copied Guthries. Founded in 1965 in Haleyville, AL. They went strictly chicken fingers in 78, and started opening other spots near Universities in the South ... Auburn, UGA, Alabama, Florida State.

Never heard of Lanes.
But I will say Cane's is just ok, which is unfortunate because the places are always clean (at least the ones I've been in), the service is top notch but the food is just meh, although the lemonade is pretty great.
It's chicken breast in flour fried. Not seasoned or anything. It's always very bland.
It's been a while since I've had it and I remember it being like this every time I've had it.
Too bad because if they seasoned the chicken just a little it would be worth it. They wouldn't need the sauce.

This has been a silly social media debate for almost 20 years, there is a YouTube video, maybe more than one by now, that has people doing taste tests blindfolded to determine which one is better. This has been discussed ad nauseam on here

I agree. If we are talking chicken tenders, Popeyes is way better. Although I usually get regular chicken at Popeyes.

I love me some Raising Canes. I think they depend on the chicken-sauce combo whereas Popeyes is just chicken. IMO, Popeyes > Canes but both are outstanding.
Not familiar with Lanes. If it's better than Canes then it's just not being marketed well because Canes are opening up all over TX.
