Kosmo, How'd that Kitchenaid mixer work out?

Sorry, can't PM was just wondering.
I just certified through Kitchenaid and I am one of only two companies in the metro area that fixes them now.
Crazy so many people toss these $400+ machines because of simple gear failures.
I was taking apart a flip top today and I was thinking about your thread about a month ago or so.

Got a question, I have a Capital Oven and the temp is off for the oven. Verified with digital probe. I need to put the knob at 425 to get 350 actual inside the over. Is there an adjustment on the oven to correct this?

yes, yes there is a way to calibrate the controls. Do you have a model number? I'll try and get you a manual. I know a designer and an engineer for Capital ranges.

Model GSCR366. I called in twice to Capital years ago about the problem but I was told both times that there were no authorized repair people that would travel to my home

I was starting the authorization process and then they said they went with Solar, which pisses me off because Solar has so many contracts and are horrible people.
(well not horrible but arrogant and super pricey)
They also have 32 techs and I have two.
I'll let you know more tomorrow. I started a thread on a tech only forum for info for you.

I think it only ended up costing $20 bucks for the parts and the oil. Somewhere around there.

awesome. I just bought a bundle of ten of the worm gear assemblies for your type of mixer. I paid $108 shipped. not bad at all. trying to stock up now.

It took a little work to get the pin out of the gear, not sure if it was slightly bent or what.
No more clicking noise, and it works like a charm.

I didn't know so many people tossed them. We have four and all have never had any problems and they differ in age by hell I guess a couple are 50 years maybe.
And before the baller- one I bought for my wife as a birthday present 20 years ago and the other three are from dead people that we inherited. The old "I get the jewelry and real estate- you can have that old mixer. I swear it's what Aunt Mildred wanted."
