Just got a Recteq Bullseye RT-380X. Opinions on best pellets for smoking pork and beef?

I used to like the Myron Mixon Orchard Blend back when my Green Mountain grill still worked, but I never did try many different pellets, so no clue if those are great or just ok.

Smokin' Pecan pellets are the best pellets I've ever used. Nothing else compares smoke-wise. They're expensive though.

just get the competition/pitmaster blend from either Lowes or Academy. Don't overspend on pellets.
40lb, $15

Hey, I’ve been having my eye on getting one of these for a while.
I have a BGE, but want an alternative that isn’t a project every time I want to cook.
How do you like it so far? Does it direct sear effectively, as well as indirect smoking? How has your food turned out, etc.
Is the deluxe worth the extra $300?

Yep, it's just sawdust and glue anyways

It’s at our apartment in Auburn. I just put it together and grilled some chicken for my daughter before I left yesterday. To do the burn-in before I cooked on it, I turned it to high and it got to 850 degrees pretty dang fast, so I’m certain it will be great for searing steaks and cooking pizza. The chicken was great (Traeger apple pellets). No clue yet it it’s legit for low and slow cooks. I’m sure it will cook well, but not sure if I will be completely pleased with the level of smoke flavor. If it’s a bit weak, I’ll use a smoke tube. That always worked well when I had my Green Mountain pellet grill.

I do it all with Lumberjack Hickory 100%. I have had pellet smokers for 11 years and I can't tell the difference between different flavors.

Bear Mountain Oak or B&B Post Oak for beef.
