Got one as a wedding gift. Wife used to use it a good bit. Now I keep it on the boat in case I ever lose my anchor.

It's a joke, woman. See, they are pretty heavy. Like an anchor. Luckily mine works. It doesn't click and I don't need schematics.

I bought the meat grinder, and now when the mixer encounters any resistance it won't spin.
I'm gonna take the housing off, what am I looking for? Broken and/or badly worn gears obviously. Maybe metal shavings. Anything else?

gears are cheap.
your unit is a little had to take apart.
You need to first remove the back cover. then take off the two screws that hold on the trim plate (the stainless ribbon with the name and product info. (I'll try and find a video)
Then the silver ring around the planetry you need to tap off gently with a screwdriver and a mallet. Then there is a small roll pin that holds the planetary in place. You will see it at the center of the planetary. After removing this pin, remove the planetary, then the six screws under the planetary, then remove the four screws in the back of the unit and the top of the case should now come off exposing the gears. (I will admit this is much harder than the new ones. Most likely you need a $5 power take off gear.)

The gears that would be bad on yours would either be the gear that drives the grinder or the beveled gear at the top most position on the shaft. I have bought both on Amazon and they are cheap.
I buy broken ones all day for $40, so I don't think you are in bad shape. Though I would always get a new set a brushes for the motor since they are so cheap.
I would just buy both the beveled gear and the grinder gear and the brushes in one amazon order.

Once I turn in this Pro 600 I'm working on the lady is giving me a classic to fix (which is similar to yours) I could send you pics and videos to help you out. It's not hard at all. You can have the gears swapped and lubed in under thirty minutes.

I got into the housing and found two broken gears:
9709627 Bevel Pinion and Center Gear?
240210-2 Gear-Worm?
I looked at the others, but they didn't have any visible damage. I assume these two would be the cause of the issue?

Those gears don't cost very much to replace. But it's a bit disconcerting.
It's been kind fun and a good learning experience though.

there is a roll pin that you have to tap out. does the shaft move in either direction?
If you see the notches on the top of the bevel that is where the pin is, you need to tap it down and remove that pin.

I took the roll pin out, does it come off the end with the plastic insert? Or the other way?

it's supposed to move towards the way with the plastic insert, then you remove a second roll pin on the shaft that is at the bevel gear, then you remove the gears in the other direction. really they gear should come off from either side. Yours could be seized on. In that case I would soak it in some wd-40, penatrator or mineral spirits, then tap it off.

It moves all the way to the end near the plastic insert I just didn't want to force it if it wasn't supposed to go that way.

I got it off. The parts will be here monday, I already have the grease that you recommended off Amazon.

If the motor turns, the only thing you will need is the new gears. You had obviously bad gears.
This quick fix and you will have save hundreds on a stand mixer.
The new grease looks a lot different that the stock grease, but it works great.
