I don't think he wants to shell out the extra $$ to pay a manager.

Agreed, but do you think his personality would allow one? He seems pretty hands on.

if he wants to stay in business he will ... he was starting to hurt a bit at the old location business-wise ... the move to coursey was a shot in the arm, but he's just about tapped that and it is time for same store sales/repeat business ... sadly, t4e and babe's experience isn't that far fetched in there .. i have heard some good ones ... i know johnny fairly well .. great guy to have a drink or two with .. highly entertaining ... but johnny's pretty much tapped out as far as where he can take that biz, imo .. he just needs to hire someone, can his ego and sit back, drink wine and tell italian jersey stories for authenticity ..

Ouch. It's been a while since I've been to a DeAngelo's though. The wife is a big fan though.

yeah .. deangelo's pizza's always stayed consistent, IMO .. johnny just passed him up and had an amazing thing going .. especially with the white crust pizza ... but then he started having really bad turnover issues in the kitchen ... people just can't take the guy for long ... all the yelling, screaming, etc. .. that's why he needs a manager .. johnny can scream at the manager and then the manager just turns around and handles it professionally with the staff ... he just has an entirely new staff every two or three weeks now ... and that has led to the mind boggling inconsistency ...

except that al copeland did have the remote capability of building on his vision .. sure, he was an a-hole, but he was a successful a-hole ... johnny had a really good, unique thing going and i am afraid he is just starting to piss it away day by day ..

Did anyone else hear Johnny on the radio the yesterday morning? He was on the same station the saints play on (left my truck radio on that station from Sunday). Anyway.... He was going on about how "some idiots" will still go to his nephew's restaurants looking for the deal he was advertising. The show's host had to remind that he was live on the air. Johnny thought they were at commercial and then started backtracking pretending like he was joking. Dude is hilarious.

oh i know. I first met Johnny 12-13 years ago when I was a bartender. I also know that it doesn't really take wine to get his mouth moving!

and that is why the "other place" has been in business for almost 20 years now in BR and has numerous locations ... louis has made bank, owns a lot of his buildings .. johnny .. on the other hand .. is in a strip mall leasing out of his arse with one location with fines and violations up to his eyeballs ...

I don’t know the man personally nor have I ate at his establishment yet, but a few weeks ago I was at the End Zone and he came blazing in, went to the kitchen and yelled at the cooks what time to be at his place the next day, then he stormed out as loudly as he came in. I just cracked up laughing. I need to get by there for some entertainment and from what ya’ll say some Russian Roulette on good food.

I love local places like that!
