Had lunch there yesterday and ordered the chicken fried steak. I guess I should have asked the waitress ahead of time but I assumed that being in the south it would be served with the white cream gravy, not thin brown gravy. Nonetheless, it was good and I would eat it again. But was I wrong to expect cream gravy?

I have been to a few places where they would offer you a choice between white and brown gravy, but to offer CFS without offering white gravy is blasphemy in my book.

Paula Dean from the Food Network said southern chicken fried steak is made with brown gravy FWIW.

I just always tell them, "white gravy on the steak...brown gravy on the mashed potatoes" Otherwise you can expect one of two things....white gravy on everything or brown gravy on everything.

Is there a difference between country fried steak & chicken fried steak? (Besides just the gravy!)

had it there and was NOT impressed, in fact, the meat almost had a sour taste. Just my experience there.

I ate at Joey K's twice and it was bad both times. I won't go again. How a place with bad food survives in N.O., I just can't fathom.

Meatloaf, and flank stank there weren't that good either, but if you find yourself there again try the soft shell crabs b/c those are worth eating.
