I teach a middle school special education class. We are learning about food safety, cooking, and measurement. I want to use the calculator in my lesson. I wanted to get your permission before using it. Also, if given permission, I will post the lesson plans and lab worksheet here for everyone to use. As it will become published material, I wanted to check with you first. Answer here or email me

As long as someone is not trying to make money off my work, I have no problem with anyone using it.

Cool, I have no intention to sell the lesson plans (teacher pay teachers). I'll post them freely and link the online calculator which will give you the credit. Also, I'll freely release the lab and worksheets associated with it.

Thanks

Well, you do have to send in the royalty.

What if we are selling it to raise money for charity? Do you need to know how much we made so you can write it off?

might need to look into an addition to the calculator to put all expenses in and and then figure out how much cost/plate and therefore how much profit /plate, could be useful for charity functions, and a way for people to figure out how much "royalty" they owe Rat?

All right, all right. That's too much work and I'm not gonna start paying an accountant to do my books, so just use it for free.

Sounds like a very engaging lesson....for future reference, King Arthur Flour offers a Bake for Good: Kids lesson booklet and video, suitable for middle schoolers. See more here: LINK
The program is designed not only to teach kids to bake, but to give away their bread to worthy causes.

Check out THIS thread about 1/2 way down page 2. It's where I explain my method for determining the volume of the cooked meat for the calculator.

It was suggested it could be the basis for a good science fair project.

Just download the spreadsheet and add a shortcut. Should work the same.

I’m also curious if your idea was endorsed and carried out.

Either way what you are doing is nothing short of pure awesomeness.
