Blackened alligator is delicious.

Had blackened gator in Louisiana and had gator tacos in Florida and both were Awesome.

Eating wise, is there a big difference between farmed raised and wild?

How so? Similar to rabbit, the wild ones taste better?

I have the ultimate hookup. We only get cheek meat for our tailgates. It’s far superior to tail and leg meat. Come see me I’ll show you.

I've had it several times, if it is well prepared it's OK, but most people eat it for the novelty of eating gator. I wouldn't make a special trip for it, for the price there is plenty of better eating.

If it's there I'll eat but I'm not going out of my way to buy and cook it.

Same here, and at the price they are getting for gator meat, I'm not paying that.

All the gator I've gotten over the years has been given to me and I don't ask how the person giving it to me came to have it.

Last big batch of gator meat I got was from a friend who was driving out along Chef Hwy. near the Rigolets and a gator was heading across the road and a tractor trailer rolled over its head. Buddy of mine not far behind the truck saw it go down, stopped and tossed it in the back of his pickup and called me to see if I was interested------and I was. I skinned it out and split the meat with him and we were both happy. An 8 ft. gator has a fair amount of meat on it.

I have only had it at restaurants as an appetizer fried up like calamari. It's very similar to calamari.
