Not my trip, but the fact that I don't really like Wild Turkey and consider it kind of a 3 a.m. bar shot would color it for me. That being said, I'm sure they probably have some great stuff there that I've never tried.

(And i just read a review that says the 101 is a great sipping bourbon for the price, so suck it Chitown)

One negative on Buffalo Trace, you can't really find any good bottles there you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. Willett, 4R, Heaven Hill, etc all have gift shop only bottles. Might be worth driving to Bardstown just to grab a bottle or two out of the gift shop for something unique to take home.

I dont remember 4R having any gift shop only bottles, but it was over 2 years ago we were there so maybe they've expanded their inventory since then. I don't really remember any of them having gift shop o ly bottles except Jim Beam offering engraved bottles you picked off the assembly line. And Makers Mark had a single Barrel cask strength or something. We really didn't buy any bottles at the distilleries though because we were given the heads home they they are all cheaper at Kroger. So it's possible we just missed those offerings.
