I'd like to piggyback on this thread and ask what is the most ballin/delicious restaurant in Houston?

When we go in for the LSU game, Jones will have just gotten off a ship and he wants to go balls to the wall somewhere amazing.

If you considered coming to the pass, I would recommend booking soon for the Friday night. Already got some old regulars of mine in there for the night and I'm expecting it will have a good chunk of purple and gold in the room. 5 or 8 course set menu with optional pairings. Vegan menu available as well.

Good to know doc. As mentioned make reservations in advance. Is recommend 2 weeks on pass for safety and a week on provisions at least. Opentable is easy enough for that. The pass only has 18 tables in it.

I can change it if need be. I just find sushi.. eh.

I feel like there's only so much you can do to a raw fish. But we shall see.

Pimp your establishment a bit. What can I expect at pass and provisions?

Corner table has always been legit when we went.

And I'll always throw out my favorite Brenner's on the Bayou. It's a steak place, so it won't be the most interesting menu.

I really enjoyed Uchi. One of my favorite meals ever. Went with 5 people so I feel like we got to try over half the menu. They have a lot going on besides raw fish.

Haven't been to marks.

The pass is definitely on my list to try, especially after a great meal at the provisions.

I'm not the biggest fan of Brenners on the bayou. It's a pretty neat location but I was underwhelmed with the food personally.

Americas has been hit and miss for me. My SO is acquaintances with the executive chef so we've been a few times. One time was wonderful, one was good but nothing too special, and one was just a little disappointing. I wouldn't go here for one blowout meal in Houston.

Of the places mentioned, I think I'd go with Uchi.

The pass is a 5 or 8 course intimate dining experience of unique food preparations. $75-160 pet person depending in whether you get pairings. The menu online will be fully changed this week.

The provisions has a hip casual environment with house made pastas, pizzas (not your standard fate either), breads and accoutrements, nice seafood dishes, a little hodgepodge of everything honestly. Quirky old world focused wine list.

The pass appeals to me more. Do they have provisions for food allergies (wife is allergic to shellfish)?

Absolutely. Be specific if it applies just to crustaceans or mollusks as well and they will accommodate accordingly to make sure she gets a full experience. We even try to accommodate all aversions as well. It's just best to make sure it is known when the reservation is made and avoid last minute confusion. The hostesses are pretty good about mentioning it upon confirmation for the seating.

Well poo.

Their online thing is only taking reservations as far out as July 23, so I'll call whenever I can.

(For Uchi, that is)
