Thank you.

I have taken pictures of my gumbo and plan on making a thread tomorrow. Your rice will be mentioned in said thread if I use your rice method.

For plain long grain rice use 2 cups water to 1 cup of rice. Bring water to a boil then add rice and stir. Bring that to a good boil put a lid on it and turn your stove to low. Cook on low for 20 minutes(do not lift the lid!!). Turn off your stove let it sit for 5 minutes and eat away.

If your using Jasmine or Basmati rice use a 1.5:1 water:rice ratio.

1.5 cups water to rice, bring it to a boil, throw in the rice, turn down the temp to a simmer and put a lid on it. Fifteen minutes or just a bit more rice is done, turn it off and let sit for a few minutes, fluff with a fork at the end.

So is it 1.5 to 1 or 2 to 1?

I can't handle this decision!

Put your rice in pot, fill water up a inch above rice,.. Bingo boil , cut on low for 20 mins.
No need to measure.
Perfect eveytime.

That's pretty much identical to mine,, 2/1 ratio, but i simmer low for 18 minutes and sometimes forget for a minute or two, so 20 is about right. ... No need for collander and extra dishes to wash..
