I’m not much of a baker, but I used Steen’s...

pecan pie recipe this weekend. Decided I really like the extra flavor that Steen’s brings to the table versus corn syrup.
Any pecan pie tips I’m missing out on?

Homemade pie crust is a must. Many recipes call for 1 cup of sugar as I use 2/3 cup of brown sugar when using Steens syrup. I soak 2 cups of pecans in some bourbon. I add 2 Tblspns of bourbon to the filling when whisking over medium heat.

Looks pretty darn good. I do like to use a mix of whole pecans and some broken/coarsely chopped ones too...but I always up the number of pecans in any given recipe. Can't stand the thin pecan veneer atop the goo. I want pecans all the way down.

I like graham cracker crusts. I may soon try making a pecan pie with a graham cracker crust.

Agree. That’s on my list to figure out... baby steps.

Thanks. I did mix whole and pieces. Also used 1 1/2 cups when recipe called for 1 cup of pecans.

I read that one time somebody wanted to make a pecan pie but didn't have pecans in the pantry. Instead they had plenty of good freshly shelled walnuts halves. They make a walnut pie following the same recipe as pecan pie. They reported it was very good. I would definitely would eat a slice of this but I'm sure I would like a good pecan pie better.

Pecan Pie recipe that has pinto beans. I made this years ago. I was surprised. I liked it but haven't made this since.

I would try either one - pintos or walnuts - interesting
Would think the walnuts would benefit from a pre-toasting before mixing in and baking. I did that with the pecans too - slightly toasted that is.
