How sturdy is it?

It's built solidly. I believe the metal gauge is thicker than traeger now that traeger is made in China but you should check that. You can also get the version with the stainless steel lid.

Holds the temp great, puts out more than enough smoke.

I cover mine but it's been outside in the Chicago weather for about 2 years and it's in great shape.

Also they have great sales from time to time.

None of the above. If you’re going to get a pellet smoker, you should just spend money getting takeout from a restaurant. That will be much better, as the restaurant will not be using pellets.

You smoke food with fire and wood, not with electric plug-in outdoor ovens and pellets. Even the manufacturers of these things recognize this when they design their outdoor plug-in ovens to look like real smokers to the casual eye.

This guy..............

What do you think pellets are made of exactly?

Since you asked...

From Wikipedia:

"Wood pellets are the most common type of pellet fuel and are generally made from compacted sawdust and related industrial wastes from the milling of lumber, manufacture of wood products and furniture, and construction."

That's why you only buy the ones that are 100% with no fillers.
