Hell, I'd be happy just to survive the choking event.

With the compartment plates one can be or at least pretend they are normal.

Those things are for the batshit crazy.

It does look quite dry.

You and your obsession for compartmented plates.

Peas and mashed potatoes are okay to mingle on the edge. Def meat and mashed potatoes w gravy.

The See Saw Margery Daw plates and cups were given as purchase premiums for gas and oatmeal and such back in the 30s and 40s. There are quite a few of them around and they would probably do a good job of keeping your beans and corn from touching.

I have some Fiesta Ware in various colors like the ones in the link. They aren't quite as deep as I prefer and I didn't pay $65 a plate either. They were much much cheaper on Ebay because most were not in a set, I guess.

I have another brand of black compartment plates. Not really deep either, but I like the look with certain foods.

I have a set of some very old ceramic plates my cousins gave me when my aunt passed away. She had so many that they all got some, too.

The newer ones from the old Chef's Catalog (RIP) are my favorites. They're white, large oval deep plates.
