Do the owners of Walk On's know how bad their food sucks? Does anyone who has a management position?

Maybe they will just open a sports bar and not call it walkons and completely overhaul their menu? Or is that too much to ask?

it's about margins with them as opposed to quality

you can get away with that shite in BR, but they will be going into a gun fight with a butter knife with that menu in the CBD

It's a shame. Instead of getting a new Range Rover every year, maybe the guy could hire a GM or executive chef to overhaul the amazingly bad menu.

There are two edible things on that menu for me: the bleu cheese burger (because all you taste is the bleu cheese), and the grilled cheese (because even they can't frick up a grilled cheese).

I call it that because Maylie's was around for like fifty years and S&W like 10.

Purist.

By the way, while Maylie's was great, I actually loved going to S & W. Knew all the bartenders drank essentially for free as long as we tipped big. Food, for the most part, was fine for steakhouse fare. Great to hang out for long lunches and for Saints and Hornets games. Never been to Walk Ons but from what people say on here it sounds like a real disappointment is in the making.

If they can pull off the "sports bar" aspect in that location, they get 10 Saints games (preseason included), 41 Hornets games, 6 Tulane football games, 2 bowl games, 8 Voodoo games, the Bayou Classic, and 2 days of the high school football playoffs. That's 60 weekend days out of 104 during a year for them to sell themselves as a sports bar.

That doesn't count any playoff games that may occur and other events such as Super Bowls, men's and women's NCAA basketball tournament games, the boat show, the home & garden show, etc.

If they can actually improve their food and make themselves an option for a drink and a bite on weeknights, it could work. But that's a big If.

Would rather see Walk Ons in Covington where they are putting the Coyote Blues place... This area is starving for something like that...

Did you ever go to their annual wine lunches? Jesus those were deadly (in a good way).

This Walk Ons thing sounds like a real disappointment for that location.

I agree from a food perspective. I am going to take a little better attitude on the situation and try to look at it from a positive.
It is going to provide a much needed place to get drinks before the game near the dome. I also think we should be thanful that someone finally stepped up and is willing to put up the money to do something with that location. It has been vacant for 5 years and it will be good to have anything operating there again.

There really can be no argument to this statement.

True. It's just that I heard of some other deals that were better possibilities. Suppose it's better than nothing. Maybe it will spur some other development as the former Hyatt opens and the mall around Champions Square expands.

considering that the building is on the national register of historic places, they should have lots of fun with doing any renovations

Couldn't have put it better. There is also a bunch of concerts, boat shows etc. People will always be around but who knows if that's the type of spot that people will be looking for.

The new Walk On's in Laffy is now a metal shell. Great location, but there's at least 6 or 7 competitors within 500 yards. We'll see?
