I'm 58 and I've drinking craft beer for decades.

Kim, I've been drinking craft beer since the late 80s. Started when I had a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and started drinking Sam Adam's back when they were local while I was working in Springfield, MA. We had Sam Adam's and Harpoon.

I remember being a little conscientious about drinking it, because I would usually split a sixer with a friend before going bar hopping, and it was more expensive than the BMC stuff. So we would take turns buying, and I was always getting the good stuff when it was my turn...

Kim. I've always thought you were older and wiser than me. I guess I'll have to settle for wiser!

My dad is 63 and I got him hooked on craft beer. He was always a bud heavy drinker when I was growing up, but I have since taught him there is more out there. He's not on the level of meeting strange men in dark parking lots to exchange hops, but he can crush Pliney with the best of them.

And he's been known to drink a sour or two...

I'm 75 and still enjoy craft beers. I took a course this summer at UNC-Asheville tasting different beers. I look for local craft beers where ever I travel.

Double cheers!

I guess I was doing the same. I don't remember exactly. I know I was drinking the European stuff in the 80s--stuff like Samuel Smith, Young's, etc. Then when we started getting domestic stuff down here like Abita, Rogue, etc., I started drinking that. When Unibroue hit the shelves here, which I think was the early 90s, I drank the shite out of their stuff. I still enjoy La Fin du Monde and Maudite.

Those Cascade sours were a little out of his comfort zone, but the old man gave it a go and liked some of them.

I started drinking Heineken as soon as it came around. Does that count? I might have to get one to reminisce.

Simply put, craft beers were not a thing for people who grew up in Louisiana who were of legal drinking age when it was still 18 (generally folks 40 or over now). I remember going around the world at chimes and being exposed to new beers, but most were imports.

I was well out of college before learning about anything more than Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada.

The BA sours at Cascade have a very high pucker factor. Some of their non-BA sours are a little mellower, for sure.

I think you walked on down to The Commons, after Cascade, right? I would have thought that they would be right in your wheelhouse. If I recollect, The Commons at that time was still somewhat of a construction zone, as that is the year they moved into their new facility...

I have been drinking "craft" beers for years. Started out in San Diego drinking Petes wicked ale and Rhino Chasers. AN then we started brewing our own shite. Good old times.
