How many tomatoes do I need to make a pot of spaghetti

Totally from scratch?

Say about about 3 qts of sauce plus a lot of meatballs.

I usually dice about two dozen fresh tomatoes when I’m making a sauce.

Just buy a few tin cans of the San marzano peeled tomatoes

Canned tomatoes are always better than fresh for a sauce.

Grab a can of peeled whole Cento San Marzanos. Standard 1 can per 2 people you're feeding. I think they're 12 oz each.

frick yes. 1 28oz can for every pound of pasta. Can of tomatoes, hand crushed, 1/4 cup of oil Oil, 7-8 cloves of garlic, fresh basil, kosher salt and oregano.
