YOu just leave it on period. How long before cooking 12-24 hours.

Ongoing FD board humor after someone posted a steak in a microwave thread.
I wouldn't call it humor at all. The joke is so old that the big bang woke it up.

Preheat oven to 350.
Apply rub liberally
Wrap ribs in in two layers of aluminum foil.
Bake for 2 or 3 hours.
Unwrap ribs from foil & place directly on smoker for about 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
Delicious!

I usually go 3-1-1/2. That's about right for me as far as texture is concerned.

Here is how I do mine.
1) Take the membrane off the back of the ribs.
2) Apply a thin layer of a mustard/Worcestershire mixture. Liberally apply a dry rub. Wrap in Saran wrap and let sit overnight in fridge.
3) Prepare a smoker or grill using indirect heat to be between 230 and 240 degrees. (hickory and apple wood chunks for smoke)
4) Smoke ribs for 5 hours uncovered.
5) After 1st 1.5 hours, spray a mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar and Apple Juice every 20-40 minutes.
6) If you like BBQ sauce on your ribs then put a layer on with 30 minutes left and a little bit more with 10 minutes left.
To tell doneness, pick up the ribs with some tongs from the end to where the end of the tongs are in the middle of the rack. If the ribs bend almost at a 90 degree angle without breaking then they are done.
