How do I cure my new gas smoker?

I have watched many videos, no exact results. There are no instructions on how to do it in the smoker instructions.

Just load it up with wood and let it smoke for a few hours with no food in it, good to go after that, will continue to get better the more you use it

If you have time.....I have wiped the inside of the smoker down with a light film of bacon grease then smoked the crap out of it with wet hickory and pecan.

I bought a spray can of vegetable oil and sprayed the inside real good then whiped it down with a paper towel. It was semilar to that Pam stuff. Pretty much like seasoning a cast iron skillet. Turn your smoker on and let it do its thing for an hour or two after you season the inside of it. Burn the oils and what not off from the factory and your good to go.

This is what I did as well. Let it burn off for 2 hours with hickory wood inside and you will be good to go.
