I have never failed to be dissapointed when I have eaten them this early in the season...always outrageously priced and too small...

I'll just stick with some skrimps until after easter...

Not Laffy, that's for sure. It usually sucks wind here, like everyone says until after Easter, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I may go to Tonys or Jimbos and see if I can get lucky. If not, then I might do the shrimp boil. Got some potatoes and corn ready to get in the pot. Sure would like some crawfish though.

Had a sack @ a month ago that were typical early season crawfish...small but they were in good shape. Had a sack Wednesday and they were a surprise...large crawfish, especially for this early. Price actually went up this week, as supplies are slim.

Yep. I had some Thursday, they were perfect size.

The guy at Seither's seafood in Harahan was telling me that prices went up $.25 because of the high demand last weekend for the parade festivities in New Orleans. Crawfisherman really have no idea about the festivities, so they just assume that the demand would be high this week as well, thus the higher price.

Supposedly after this week, the prices will dip below $2.00 once the crawfishermen realize the demand isn't as extreme as it was for St Paddy festivities.

You think crawfishermen set the price.

The market sets the price

Hey man the other night you said to go out in the country and stop by a farm and they would sale you/me some for a reasonable price. Are you talking like Rayne, Abbeville, outside Lafayette somewhere? If not I might head out to Cat Island and get some since the water is up already this year. Thanks for any help

First of all, I personally didn't say that, I was repeating what the guy at Seither's told me.

Secondly, if you read correctly, I said the price was high due to the demand during the parades (aka the "market" setting the price). I didn't literally mean the crawfishermen set the price, I thought that was pretty easy to understand.

Got some from Tommy's today. Prices had gone up this week but they were pretty big. Can't wait until May.
