You’re right, the most diverse city in the country has no culture. We need more second lines filled with northeastern transplants and breweries.

Houston, the original new money concrete jungle. Home to cookie cutter McMansions, nice chains, and absence of all culture

And you’re about as ignorant as they come. Congrats.

Oh, the largest rodeo in the country doesn’t qualify. Or one of the largest museum/arts districts in the country? BBQ? Get lost.

What is Houston’s culture? When you say Houston what pops into your mind? Is it the same as others? No it’s not. Houston doesn’t have a “culture” to it. It’s truly a new melting pot, which is good.

I also understand and admit there are lots of good restaurants and lots of diverse restaurants, but to claim the food scene is as good as NOLA is a painfully bad take.

I'm sure more people are acknowledging Houston as having good food. And again, I'm not even saying that Houston doesn't have a strong culinary presence. But compared to NOLA, Houston does not have nearly the reputation for dining.

There's about 1,001 things Houston can rightfully claim they do better than NOLA. Don't think the food is the hill you should die on.

No, I said it’s better. And it is, but clearly you have no experience to appreciate that.

New Orleans has a much better high end dining scene. I’d say for things people eat on a weekly or normal basis - Thai, Vietnamese, BBQ, Tex-Mex, sushi, burgers, Chinese, etc. - Houston is far better.

I do. But there’s only so many “unique” taco places that are famous for THEIR salsa, so many Tex-mex/Asian fusion spots, and so many specialty kolache places until you realize, non of these are all that different.

In New Orleans you have Cajun, you have creole, you have Italian, you have French, you have Asian, and you have country cooking/fried food.

And the thing that makes the NOLA scene better is that on any corner, that hole in the wall is as good as or better than the some of the more highly regarded places anywhere else.

I said New Orleans has a much better high end dining scene. Lot more creativity too. However, anyone arguing New Orleans has more options in general is being obtuse.

Now that that’s settled, why don’t you explain why your case? Or are you to ignorant to come up with a decent argument?

Other than creole/Cajun food, Houston has a far wider spectrum of food culture which can be found throughout the entire city. Houston also has a Chinatown, and I don’t think very many people who live outside of Houston are aware of this. It’s freaking legit, no joke, and pretty well organized compared to other major cities that have a Chinatown.

You can basically find any type of food you are looking for in this city, and it will taste very good.

As big as Houston is, it has the same number of 2020 James Beard nominees as New Orleans

It’s nice not having to travel through tolls and loops and concrete just to get to your spot. I don’t need 10 different places doing the same cuisine as long as I have 1 go-to that does it right. I don’t yearn for any type of food in NOLA. It has everything I need

Thank you for proving my point. Houston has a more diverse food scene, but that doesn't make it better.

Sort of a bad metric cause James bread just now treats texas as it's own region when before it was lumped on with Oklahoma, Arizona, Nevada and Colorado. 7/30 of the biggest metros

Where Louisiana is in with Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. New Orleans naturally dominated. 3/30 largest metros all of which are in Florida

Okay, sure. NOLA’s food scene is 90% restricted to creole/Cajun (that gets old fast). Houston’s food scene is not restricted, just like the foundation of the city itself. I know I’m reiterating my point, but that in itself proves the food scene is bigger and, frankly, better.
