Hi all,

Will be in Houston this weekend, and looking for food & drink recs...staying downtown and probably heading to the Astros game Friday night. (I saw the BBQ thread so will consult that as well)

Breweries on the radar are:
Spindletap
Brash
WF Post Oak
Eureka
Great Heights
(likely won't get out to B52...but open to new suggestions)

Looking for any good lunch/dinner spots between uptown & downtown, too. All ideas are appreciated in advance

I liked Brash a lot. I know it's not hip anymore, but one of my favorite brewery tours ever was St. Arnold. I'm still a big fan of their beers.

I've been wanting to check that out. I dunno when we will head over to Houston again. The calendar is filling up for what's left of the summer. Plus, I can imagine how my wife would react if I suggested going to an outdoor beer garden in Houston during August. Then we have a trip to Disney World set for September. Maybe sometime in the fall or winter.

Go to St Arnold instead of Whole Foods. That place is going to be garbage now.

Hughies on Main and 18th has really good fried rice (get it spicy) with lots of garlic, and a good local selection.

Went to Street Food Thai Market for the first time last week with the wife and some friends. Was phenomenal. Even the ramen curry was good, and I don’t like curry.

Pit Room and Feges is good for BBQ. El Tiempo for TX Mex. The grilled reddish with serrano peppers and garlic is delicious. Skip the cheese. There’s other good food places others can recommend.

Definitely go to Brash. Enjoy as many of their stouts as available.

I saw Dave is still on the WFB website as the brewmaster, struck me a little odd.

If you're going to the game Friday night, pregame at 8th Wonder. It's walking distance to Minute Maid and has a solid selection of beers.

8th Wonder should probably be renamed One Hit Wonder. That coffee porter was a hit, but that’s about it.

Guess that’s still better than Buffalo Bayou.

But they have clever and punny beer names

Who doesn't want to drink a Dream Shake or a UGK-referenced beer or a purple drank dj screw beer?

I like their Boss Beer. But yeah, Rocket Fuel is the main attraction. It’s a good place to hang out before the game.

Eureka Heights is my favorite brewery. Love that place!

Conservatory is a really good spot. Good beers and good bbq.
Flying Saucer is a good drinking spot.
I like Frank’s pizza downtown after a night of drinking.
Okra is a charity bar downtown with a cool concept. Haven’t been yet though.

I like hitting up Copperhead in Conroe, but I sometimes get a bit too aggressive when playing ping pong out in the back
