Preferably inside the loop. Im not going to give a price limit just nothing that's overly expensive. First date spot, so something fun, upbeat or creative/interesting atmosphere. (not romantic).

Got tricked into taking a date a month ago to Fish in midtown for sushi, and that was definitely out of range at over a $100 with tip. To make matters worse she ended up being a stuck up count, should have known since she was a liberal writer who blogged for the Texans. (And still didn't know shite about football.)

Provisions
Hugo's brunch
Cold Bar at Cove
Brooklyn Athletic Club...then after dinner you can kick her arse in Bocce to assert your dominance

Go to Chinatown if she doesn't suck.

Dinner/Movie on the lawn at Tiny Boxwood's...chick's dig this shite

Provisions...great date spot

Downhouse...neat place

Hay Merchant...A girl that can enjoy a beer and quality food is nice, but some chicks may get turned off by this on a first date

13 Celsius...If you're in to wine

Food Truck Park, then grab drinks at 3rdFloor or another bar...This is a casual date if you think she's that kind of girl

Blacksmith...if it's a date during the day

ETA: Brooklyn Athletic Club would be a good spot too

Take her to Mockingbird Bistro for happy hour. Sit at a table in the bar area, not the main dining room, and order some small plates, wine, cocktails. Good food, cool crowd, upbeat casual fun atmosphere. Nice for a first date IMO.

If I had a mistress, this would be my ideal place to take her

Actually took a girl here for a first date once when I was trying to get to know her. (about a month or so ago near when it opened). Nice atmosphere. For those that don't know its on the corner right after celtic garden and the piano bar.

Seriously...Provisions is a panty dropper. If I was single I would take my dates there.

Every time I've gone there, it's filled with dating couples and the chicks all look like they're yearning to tongue their date's balls once they leave. Bread and cheese pairings just get their juices flowing...it's science

Go to the Menil Collection and then swing by Oporto.

Collina's is right next door to Oporto and you can bring your own wine in. Nothing special food wise but decent Italian. Brooklyn Atheltic Club was also a good suggestion.

This is a pretty good spot for what you described. Nice little place, laid back, good cozy atmosphere and great drinks. Food menu isn't extensive, but its good.

Carbs and butter. You're not human if you don't like it.

I was coming on here to post Downhouse. It is pretty laid back, good food, and great beer selection.

Also consider Plonk Wine and Beer Bistro haven't been but heard it is pretty good. Have good beer/wine selection and you could share a pizza.

And you could check out Simone on Sunset my cousin recently took his girlfriend here and they really enjoyed it. Nice patio area, and good food.
