Yeah, need to get some fittings for my ratchet to fit the in/out connections.

Both connections should be the same. I have a socket, but ended up using a close ended wrench more often than not.

Carb testing my DIPA... Close, but not quite there.

Ive got one of These. It's great. Has both sizes needed for some of our oddball kegs.

Tried to get back on the homebrew horse today, but got kicked off by the gods.

Was going to be, and will still probably a be a lighter belgian ale.

11 lbs german pils
1/2 lb caramunich I
1/2 lb red wheat
All hops hallertau. Low IBU overall.
Wyeast 3522 Belgian Ardennes.

I was going to try a no-sparge today. Any of y'all done that?

Brew day complete. Got 6 gallons. My efficiency went down, and I mashed at too low a temp (149), so my OG is 1.074 instead of 1.082. But, my FG will be lower so the abv shouldn't be off by too much. Started brewing at 11 finished at 5 with cleanup and everything. Probably could have cut an hour off if I wasn't cooking chili at the same time.

Yup. And i used fermcaps. And i still got a blowoff. Knew i should have used a blowoff tube. I made a 1.5 liter starter on friday and pitched yesterday. Wyeast 1028 London Ale. Why is it, every time, my stouts create the biggest mess? Like you said, good sign of healthy fermentation, but such a pain in the arse.

So, back to kegging. What's the best way to clean and sanitize your kegs/keg equipment?

Should i just throw all parts/pieces into a bucket of pbw, or could you run some water and pbw through the keg system with some co2 forcing it out?

Probably not a best practice, but I don't disassemble my kegs between every batch.

I'll typically just soak the keg in PBW or Oxyclean Free, push that through both posts, dump, rinse, and repeat the process with StarSan.

I really only disassemble a keg if it's been empty a while, the last batch was particularly nasty, or I'm going to bulk age something in there.

Well, as far as the keg only is concerned, the only thing i'm removing is the keg lid/gaskets, and the gas in/beer out posts and gaskets, correct?

You said push through both posts. Do you mean, connect gas line and run the solution through like you would beer?

I think, since this is a used keg, that is new, that i'll soak the lid and maybe the posts in some pbw and star san, then reassemble and push through some cleaner and star san through the keg.

Do i need to sanitize/clean the CO2 hose?

Essentially (lid, gaskets, posts, more gaskets, poppets, and dip tubes)

yeah, with a new keg I would break it all down and clean it before the first use, I just don't do that between batches.

I gravity feed the solution through the post, I turn the keg on it's side and run solution out of each post using a screw driver of a MFL disconnect.

Probably not??? I've heard of people getting infections from their gas side, but I'm not sure how that happened.

poppets

Where are these located? ETA: Just googled, these are inside the posts, correct?

So you're not actually forcing the cleaner out of the keg like you would beer, but you are using a screw driver to force teh solution out of both posts?

Nope, I just turn the keg on it's side and use a screw driver to depress the poppets.

There is no reason you couldn't use CO2 to push the solution out of the keg. I just typically clean the kegs in my yard and don't want to drag a co2 bottle out there.

Sounds good. Anything i need to watch for when disassembling/reassembling the keg?

And i was told when i bought the stuff friday but forgot, but the smaller swivel barb goes in the beer out post and the larger opening barb for the gas in, correct?

I've seen those. I've never had trouble, however, cleaning my carboys with pbw and hot water and doing a soak and using the carboy brush.

You kind of lost me here. I'm guessing you're talking about some MFL connectors?
