Ordering my Galaxy pale ale in a few minutes to brew this weekend.
Is 3 oz. of Galaxy hops @ dry hop, too much for a 55 IBU Extra Pale Ale? Keep in mind i have 1.3 oz. going into whirlpool.
Just seems a little overkill to me, though i think i know the answer i'll receive.
ETA: Meant to add 3 oz. at dry hop

We're brewing an extra pale ale tonight that'll have 4ish oz of hops.

oh lord that's probably plenty. We have just 4 oz total. This is a beer for the masses.

Well i'm wondering if i should knock down my dry hops to 2 oz. rather than 3. And maybe shift around some other additions.

Seems fine to me.

I added blackberries to my wheat beer on Monday, and I am seeing no airlock activity. Should I be concerned?

I wouldn't be. did you check gravity before adding the fruit?

No, I still need to invest on instrumentation for that.

Get you a good hydrometer. they aren't very expensive aND will allow you to monitor your gravity (sugar content) for when you have issues.
If you knew that already, my apologies.
Eta: fruited wheat beers are great for this time of year. Did you buy a kit? AG or extract?

Racked my Nelson/marris otter SMaSH last night To add dry hops and prep for kegging. Gravity is right in and I'm sitting at 6.5abv
My Pliny clone is still bubbling away after a full week. This was the highest gravity beer I've ever brewed with an OG of 1.095

No need to apologize. I am new to this and welcome all advice. A hydrometer has been on my to do list.
Yeah, that was calculated on my part. With crawfish season coming up, I wanted some for folks to drink. My next brew will probably be a blonde ale.
Its an extract brew. I got the ingredients from Brewstock, berries from Winn-Dixie.

I'm not sure a Pliny clone should be that high
I managed to forget the 3 gallons of plums in my cooler overnight. Checked them this morning, and they were still cold but many thawed. One of the bags leaked, and there is red plum juice everywhere. The inside of my cooler looks like a crime scene. I iced them down and will re-freeze tonight. By the time I pit them and use them, they will be a pulpy mess, just right for adding to a beer. The red color from the pulp should make for a really nice color in the beer.

Some friends and I have a whiskey barrel to fill and we are going to try and brew on Saturday. its a 15 gallon LA 1 whiskey barrel. We are tossing around some ideas but cannot settle on anything. What should we put in it? Not really feeling a stout or barleywine.

Old Ale
Scotch
Doppelbock
Then after that, go solera.

Hops and Grain in Austin makes a bourbon barrel aged version of their Alt-eration that is fantastic. You get all the great bourbon, oak, and vanilla from the barrel in a easy drinking 5-6% beer.
