Brewing for Zapp's this morning. Passionfruit tea wheat. The beer should end up being pink. It's a good festival beer.

I think our beers are going to be right next to each other on the "good festival beer" spectrum.

Put together a single malt double hop brew I plan on brewing this week.

Maris otter and columbus/Nelson sauvin.

Should be an interesting beer with these 2 hops. Looking forward to it.

That sounds really nice. Maris Otter is a good one to do single malt with.

I think you should just brew it already and let us know how it turns out!

I would brew it Sunday if i could, but i'm out of space in my ferment fridge and my beer fridge. I have 5 cases of homebrews in the ferment freezer and limited space in my beer fridge.

Also, I'm interested in input from other homebrewers.

I think you know what needs to be done.

Falconer's Flight is one hop that I've always wanted to use, but never have gotten around to.

When i get my brown ale bottled and labeled, could you take some extras to give out to the masses? (i'll give you some more of the saison as well.

I use a lot of 7 Cs in our Grapefruit Rye. Not sure if there's a difference between FF and FF 7Cs but I like it.

FF7C - "Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Citra®, Cluster, Columbus and Crystal plus additional experimental varieties"

FF - "Citra, Simcoe, and Sorachi Ace along with experimental hops and numerous other NW varieties"

I've used FF7C a bunch and really like it. Never used FF.

Yep. Bad idea IMO that they have similar names. I'm sure I have mixed them up in the past but oh well.

Seeing as FF is a blend of hops, I am going to scratch them from this IPA, and use them in another batch later on. Here's my IPA Recipe

Grain Bill (1.068 OG)

82% - 2 row
8% - Honey Malt
6% - Vienna
4% - Carapils

Hops (IBU's - 83.4)

1 oz - El Dorado (FWH - 60 min)
1 oz - El Dorado (20 min)
1 oz - Motueka (5 min)
1 oz - Amarillo (5 min)
1 oz - El Dorado (Whirlpool/Hop Stand)
1 oz - Amarillo (Dry Hop)
2 oz - El Dorado (Dry Hop)
2 oz - Motueka (Dry Hop)

Yeast - Gigayeast Vermont IPA

Sounds good to me.

FYI I got the latest Zymurgy magazine recently. I remember you were looking for it a while back.

Yeah i finally got it. They were late on issuing it, compared to their digital copies.

I think DC Brau uses FF exclusively in their OTWOA. That's a great beer. I may have to use it soon. Put in in the queue.

Yep, very Gose-centric issue. Good explanation of how to make one compared to their previous attempts and Commercial Calibration of Anderson Valley's and Westbrook's offerings.

Question for the repeat style brewers

I find that majority of my brews have been saisons and IPAs. As i design and brew more IPA's i find myself settling down on nearly the same malt profile every time. Do you tend to do the same with repeat styles? Or do you mix it up with every new recipe?

For instance, i have a extra pale ale and 2 ipa recipes with nearly identical grain bills. I guess since i'm more seasoned as a brewer, i get dialed in to what i know works and doesn't work. But for some reason, i feel like i'm being lazy if i don't try to create a new recipe from scratch every time.
