I flushed the hell out of my ball valves with hot hot PBW and sprayed hose opposite way at high pressure while opening and closing the valve after reading that post. If I ever have any issues I'll definitely take it apart and clean even more.

Bug, PBW soaking mash tun is the definition of overkill.

Racked a sour saison on to cherries and then added in some lambic blend.

Racked some biere de garde into some cabernet juice and added some roselare blend.

Kegged a brett IPA.

Cleaned 3 kegs and two fermenter.

I'm worn out for a weeknight.

Pictured is the beer/wine hybrid. Pretty cool how the bubbles resemble bacteria.

Yeah that's wild looking. You have a chance to enjoy some of that Embrace the funk yazoo stuff yet?

For sure. I have a good bit in my "cellar." Some brett saison, brett old ale, brett raspberry, and sour apricot (which has been my favorite so far). Yazoo can be on my way home from work if I want, so I make sure to duck out early to grab all the releases.

I had a good chat with Brandon Jones, the ETF guy, the other day. He has a lot going on over there. They just got an off-site sour facility up and running, and he pretty much has it filled with barrels already. I'm not sure if he was being serious or just being nice, but he invited me over to the new facility to critique some of my beers and tell me where I can improve. I need to take him up on that when I get a few more batches ready.

Take him up on it. Based on his blog and everything else I've heard about him I'm positive he's good people.

Thanks to that damn picture, I took apart the valves on my kettle and mash tun tonight. The kettle was far worse looking than the mash tun. But both should be extra clean for brewing this weekend. Mosaic-Citra-Amarillo pale ale on deck.

Yeah. I may not be far behind you in taking apart mine too. We'll see.

Bug's gonna Bug

The valve and sight glass on my brew kettle were kind of funky when I took them apart. Thankfully nothing close to those pictures.

Mine was mostly just wort residue. Kind of expected it given all the sugar water that passed through it.

I know. It's none of my concern what he does but somebody's got to tell him at least. PBW kettle? Yes. Mash tun? No. Not at all. You could mash in a diaper if you wanted to.

The first brew session that will occur at my new location will be just pbw making its way through everything. My kettle needs it badly, but as everyone probably knows I am lazy as shite about things being perfectly clean.

How's your chiller treating you?

I've really gotta make it to a brew session at your place sometime.

I really like it. Have figured out the right speed to get it from flame out to mid 60's in one pass with ice water.

What chiller are you using? I recently got a Z-chiller counter flow chiller but haven't used it yet.

Isn't that what Bottomland has been doing lately?

I was certifiably drunk at this point last night.

I'm offended. I don't mash in a diaper. That's disgusting.

I ferment in dirty garbage cans.

Man. I re-watched the homebrewing Good Eats episode titled "Amber Waves of Grain" the other night. That was rough watching it. I bet Alton wishes he could re-do that one these days. Seemed like he knew what he was talking about some of the time but some of those techniques were a little odd.

Used bleach as a sanitizer
Called the flavor hops 15mins left in boil "dry hopping"
Boiled the steeping grains

What was the failed experiment that you just had to dump? Diaper mashed no-boil?
