Probably around $300. If I had to guess shipping would be around $30 a pop so yeah, not sure it would be worth it.

What about without the burner?

Honestly $300 is probably more than I'd want to spend (IOW I don't want to hear it from my pregnant wife) for something I'm not sure I'd even have a chance to use in the next 6 months

That would be for 2 fermenters. You would only need one to start. With a kettle, however, it would come out close to $300.

I have a stainless drill bit for my whirlpools and try to make cleaning/sanitization easier with less pieces so I have steered clear of pumps. I haven’t even bothered with craigslist because of covid but it is easily $700 worth of equipment new.

No apologies necessary. Im honestly curious what most people are using. Seems like your equipment is larger than where I would need to start. Do you brew batches for beerfests? The homebrews are usually my favorite part of those fests.

5 gallon batches seem to be the standard. If you do BIAB, you will most likely need a larger volume kettle to make up for the water needed from grain absorption/boil off. I had a 10 gallon but switched to a 15 gallon because I would get close to the top of the 10 gallon with certain recipes. TheEstimator helped me enter one of the homebrew competitions last year and I did okay I guess. I would like to enter more but I work a lot.

He’s workin his arse off lately. I had a 5 month old IPA of his about a month ago that he resurrected with orange juice and it was delicious.

There's a metric truck-fun of info online. Lots of people homebrew these days. Look online, you probably have a homebrew shop in town or near enough you can go to and discuss with one of the employees who are almost assuredly super into it and can give you more info than you'll ever need. If not you can get all the equipment you need online. Lahomebrew.com is the homebrew shop in Baton Rouge. They're good folks. They'll ship anywhere, but you can also put in an order and pick it up. Northern brewer is probably the biggest online retailer. I haven't had problems with them, but I almost exclusively use lahomebrew when I can.

In short look online and you can find all the info you need. Also there are quite a few specialized forums that are good about helping noobs. Good luck. My only advice is that you don't need to, but can easily spend a fortune. Start with the essentials and if you take to it you can go from there because you'll know where you should best spend your money. That or pick up someone's old kit.

I do 3 gallon BIAB batches. 3 gallons ~ 1 case of beer. I use a 5 gallon pot on my stove for mashing. Have a 3 gallon PET fermentor. Estimate $50 total for the kettle, fermentor, and bag.

I got a wine fridge off Craigslist for $50 that I use for fermentation temp control. I have my own temp controller but you could get an inkbird for $30-50 (I think).

I’ve seen people use a 5 gallon pot, a nylon bag and a sous vide for the mash for temp control. You could use that and then boil on the stove. You don’t have to be fancy or expensive to make good beer.
