I don't think anyone is excusing the payment system not working. The event is barely over and there isn't even a response or comment for the issues.
Flaming and saying 'they lost a customer' without doing due diligence will always get the 'see ya' response from me.
They used to run out of wooden tokens every year and switched to this to try and correct the issue.
If they refuse to correct the issue, hell yeah, bitch and leave.

frick. Now I feel bad. My kids have nothing wrong with them at all in comparison to what this event is for.
But i still don’t think I should feel bad or guilty that I am upset I went out there and could not even spend a single dollar to buy anything because their system screwed up.

Sucks that many people had trouble with the wristbands. Our funds showed up but many of the folks at the registers were novices with scanning, but that’s a mild nuisance compared to what y’all dealt with.
Some of the items we enjoyed:
—Chits & Piggles boudin wontons
—Hogaritaville pulled pork mac & cheese tots
—Silence of da Hams ribs
—Hoggystyle brisket mexi melt & jalapeño popper meat pie
—March of the Pigs boudin balls
—Blue Oak burnt end & crawfish boudin, burnt ends, brisket & ribs
—Company Burger bacon sundae
Best dish might have been those Blue Oak burnt ends, but we got 6 of those Hoggystyle mexi melts to go, and that meat pie was stupid good too. Chef Carl & company are good people.

It was a cluster frick last year too when they switched to the bracelet method like a month before the show, after they had already sold regular tickets to thousands of people.
This isnt a little mom and pop festival anymore. They need to get that thing right.

Not sure if this has been covered but if your online amount was not showing up, then you needed to swipe your band at customer service and then it would work. Was very brief but still a huge pain. Hope they can improve the system. Seems way too over complicated

They did the same thing this year. The roll out method was the same as far as I know.
I think maybe you could get your band mailed to you this year and couldn't last year.
The second to last year of paper tickets the scanners broke and they were just letting people in at the end.
No doubt. Think the wristbands are a third party.

Damn, I forgot about this one and never tried it. I wanted to eat so much more, but I pulled a total rookie move and went out last night .. and I am not much of an eater when hungover.
Although it isn't a new item, I finally tried the Captain Porkenheimer mac and cheese.. and damn that is good stuff. A sleeper item was the Cubano hotdog from March of the Pigs. Wasn't pretty but that sausage tasted exactly like a cuban sandwich.

Maybe it was the year before, i dont remember. I had bought a regular ticket, then they decided they wanted to use bracelets and ended up waiting in a 30 min line to get them switched out.

When I was leaving around 4 it looked like a long line.
Got mine this week at Urban South.
Agree, they may need to look into other methods to get wristbands out beforehand.
They could limit the size of the event to less people I guess.

Yeah the line to get in last year was 45 minutes for us. Partially because of the need to switch out, partially because nobody knew to pre-load money from home and had to do it at the ticket swap as they came in.
Ideally there will be a better system next year, but if there isn't, I'd suggest putting a lot more money than you need and just letting it get auto-refunded to you later. I had friends show up with $20 pre-loaded this year, with intentions to top off all day. If you plan on slamming beers, this is risky. Technology is never 100% regardless of which system they're using.
Last year, the issue for me was inability to get any internet reception to top off.

Us too...and we had someone with us whose band didn’t get him through the doors. He went back to customer service and all was fine afterward
ETA: We had to add funds for swag around 2:00 and the top off line up front was long as hell...those need to be quicker or easier

Interesting. Did customer service have some kind of scanner that "activates" your band, and it glitched when you were topped off?
Agree on a switch of systems though. Most cashless festivals link directly to your CC/bank account and it basically works as direct transactions when you buy stuff. Last year, I feel like the only way you could get your leftover funds was to initiate a refund request from them (it wasn't automatic) so I figured they used this method as an attempt to gain some extra $$ from people who didn't care to get a refund. But this year you are refunded automatically so no need to keep this method.

The story was that all the booths went offline. So when you added from the Internet, they weren’t able to pick it up. But customer service was online and I guess somehow linked to all the offline booths. So once your band scanned there then it was loaded to where offline booths could now recognize it.... if that makes sense?? Lol

Wait,
lol
Did Hogs for the Cause frick shite up for everyone again this year?
Unreal

Some knowledge of how the bands work may help in this situation. I don't know myself. Maybe the wristbands are able to hold some sort of info about what dollar amount was supposed to be on there.
Glad to know customer service could help.

Aren’t people getting paid 90-100k to frick this shite up? That’s not a bad gig.

You can’t throw an event this size and hide behind the charity aspect of it as a reason that people who take time out of their lives and spend money at it to support it can’t complain when something is wrong.

It’s actually $130k salary according to the public documents. I believe one takes a $130k salary and the other a $56k salary.

We went for the 1st time this year. Got there early ..10:30
and had no issues with the payment bands....we left early also 1:00. My impression of the whole event was marginally OK. Lots of better festivals around.... and I agree this is !st. and foremost a festival. Food was good...green curry boudin really good as was the bacon wrapped dates. I don't understand why they use this silly cashless system. Jazz Fest uses cash has no payment problems.
These folks need to do better...
