Hopefully they don't run out of food in 1 hour this year

Yeah, I know this is an older comment but did you say that with a straight face? There was plenty of food well into the late afternoon. Moreover, after last year's heavy attendance, this year's cooks will be better prepared for the crowds.

so a ticket gets you free samples from each contestant?

or will each contestant price their goods individually?

or is it "donation encouraged" type thing?

Ticket gets you in the gates. Then each team from 12-4 is going to have food, raffle items, auctions, etc... to raise as much money in their piggy bank as possible. Most teams will be charging $2 or so per sample or raffle chance. There will be a lot of food. Plus 10 food trucks including many from Baton Rouge (Curbside, Kickers, etc...). Music and beer.

The structure might be a little different from last year but as it comes to the teams competing it's a "donation encouraged" type thing. I'm pretty sure they're going to have a number of food trucks out there as well; I'm guessing the trucks will be selling their product like normal.

I had a great time at it last year and am upset that I will be out of town this weekend and unable to attend.

ETA: Or just take it from the horse's mouth above.

The dog park is across the street and while I doubt we'd turn anyone away who brought a hound, we arent really encouraging it.

Hey Blackened Out, can you either confirm or Deny that the 610 Stompers team is bringing out a Dunking Booth? I'm hearing this from the inside...

We don't need the gimmicks. Our food will be enough...though we dont have some tricks up our sleeve just in case.

We want that Big Green Egg!!!

I don't know what the Squeal 610 Stompers Team is bringing but they asked if a water truck could be delivered on site. So a dunking booth or massive slip n slide seems imminent.

Had an awesome time yesterday. The weather, music, and smell of smoke in the air made for a excellent atmosphere. We got there at about noon and stayed till 7:30. Ending up trying about 12 of the teams fare, all of which were damn good. We set up our chairs right by the beer tent and drank NOLA throughout the day. All in all, it was an excellent event. I can see it growing bigger next year, but I hope not too much. There was just the right amount of people there and it wasn't hard to fight the crowds like some of the other festivals that have blew up in recent years.

If I had to say something negative..

-When we got there, we went to the line where people with people with tickets already in hand were supposed to go. Since we had tickets, we thought we wouldn't have to wait in line. But the girls taking tickets were letting people jump in line without tickets. They were simply just charging them the $15. I know I got mine for $10, but I assumed we wouldn't have a wait for all the money transactions. Not that big of a deal, though.

-Another problem was NOLA running out of the Blond and Hopitoulas in the middle of the day. All they had left was the dark beers, and that doesn't make well for day drinking for most. Not to mention, all the participants were walking around dangling their cans of Bud Light and Coors Light in our faces while we tried to force down the Brown Ale The beer lines did move swiftly, that was a plus.

-One final thing that got me was the tickets used to get the food. When I went to the booth and asked the girl how the tickets worked, she was like "Ummmm.. I think you use them to get food". Ooook. So I bought $40 worth of tickets, but when I get to the booth, this vendor starts haggling me for a cash donation for his bucket. Then some wanted tickets? I was just really confused, as was the worker and some of the vendors.

All in all, great time. You can tell a lot of people worked hard to pull off the event. They should be proud

edit- was the green egg raffled yesterday?
