I opened the restaurant in 1993 , my name is Hernando J Cuellar . I still run it today excacly the same way since. Not only have I been there but so have the core of our back of the house employees. The recepies are the same . I invite you all to come in and ask for me , let me take care of you .

Eat once at the original location on Navigation, and you will not want to ever eat at the BR location again. Anyone that offers La Caretta as a alternative might not be the best one to be rating places.

I haven't been in ages, and hope this thread is wrong, will try soon.
Was never a fan of Ninfas in H-Town sans the original location, as many of their satellite locations were horrible. But, the BR location under Moran's ownership was excellent, a very liberal interpretation of Ninfas, better quality meats, and executed recipes, which made the BR one almost a Ninfas in name only.
I recently had Coyote Blues twice, and was very underwhelmed after hearing the hype over the last year-plus on here, maybe I'm ordering the wrong items, because the dishes I had were pedestrian, and very small in portion per price.
Saw and tasted no clear line-of-demarcation to justify Coyote's proud prices vs the BR competition. After having lived briefly in Houston and Austin, it was actually a letdown. Gonna have to go back and try some of their signature dishes.

If I decide to go back, I will ask for you. It used to be a wonderful place to eat.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You're smoking crack.
Superior Grill is a social place, where people drink and hang out, not a place for good food. Don't take my word for it, do a search online and you'll see that most of the reviews reference the margaritas or the atmosphere, not the food.

Agree Fro, read the other posts and you are always ON when it comes to food recs. I too preferred the old decor but the food is always solid. Superior, well, maybe he was drunk when he went ? I like the atmosphere but the food is not comparable.

coyote blues took osso bucco off the menu .. I was highly disappointed ..

Ninfa's is still my No. 1 for TexMex in Baton Rouge! My family loves the place. I've never had a bad meal there. I don't understand where all the hate is coming from. Superior used to rival them in the food department, but the quality has gone way down and the prices have gone up too much.

I really like it but I was never there during the "heyday" apprently. I think it's really good and the food comes out within 3 mins if it's not busy and less than 10 when they are.

Damn, I never tried it there, and it's one of my absolute favorite dishes..marrow!

it was pretty tasty there .. apparently they took all the kobe beef items off the menu also .. now it is just literally another tex mex restaurant in BR ..
just a helluva lot more expensive than the rest ..

Navigation Ninfa's is different from the chain Ninfa's these days...Mama Ninfa's doesn't have anything to do with Ninfa's. They just let them use the name. Like The Londoner in BR, the guy who started The Londoner in Dallas just let them use the name.
Of all the chain Ninfa's I've been to, the one in BR is actually one of the best.
