But seriously - there should be an app for this. Much easier to have on a your mobile device than to get to a computer, print, etc. I bet you could make a few bucks off of it. I'd buy.

Just import it into Google Docs and you can access it anywhere and share it with anyone.

I still have no idea how to use this chart. It makes absolutely no sense to me.

Using the 1st tab, how many servings do you need? Enter that number the first column of pink cells and hit enter. That's it.

Now you can read the ingredient amounts you need in the yellow cells at the bottom. Using these amounts, follow the instructions on the Procedure tab.

The yellow cells at the top give you the amount of jamb produced, the smallest pot size you can use, the fill level of the pot and an estimate of the meat percentage of the jambalaya.

All the pink cells can be changed to suit your needs, but you certainly don't need to. The base settings will produce a terrific result. The yellow cells are the output.

on the part that says "ration of liquid to rice"

on the left column it says gallons and hte right I guess is the ratio.

so if the ratio on the right says 1.9, does that mean 1.9 gallons of water/liquid per cup of rice?

No, that is the water to rice ratio for that size pot. You can change that if you want a different ratio. The actual amounts of water you use are given under the ingredients in the yellow output cells. Remember that pink cells are for your variables, the yellow cells are the calculated output.

sorry man, I know it probably makes total sense but I have never cooked something like this and really need it to be explained like I'm a 4 year old...

I really want to try a batch for about 10-20 people in the coming weeks--for a football gathering.

For your first jambalaya, you can just put in how many servings you want and then use the ingredients at their listed amounts because the preset ratios will give you a good result. After you get the hang of it, then experiment with changing things up.

Pochejp would leave out the parsley, celery and bell pepper, but what does he know?
