That is the question.

When you get the breakfast platter and you get these two options, what do you choose?

Nothing better than nice creamy grits for breakfast, but they rarely live up to potential when I order them at a restaurant, so I reluctantly order potatoes unless I already know the grits are good.

I never order grits at restaurants unless I know they use heart-stopping amounts of butter and milk/cream, just like God intended. Most places cook them in water and throw in a little pat of butter. Frick that.

Yeah I’m with ya on all that. Why do people even make thin, watery grits? Nobody likes that shite

I go with home fries if available. As mentioned above, grits are best with being well fortified with cream, butter, stock. Grits cooked in water are the definition of culinary meh.

Also depends on the egg selection, easy or medium eggs were made for their yolks to be stirred into grits.

Grits if done right. Potatoes otherwise. As someone mentioned, most places can’t do grits well.

I enjoy the cheesy garlic ones at chimes

Funny thread since we went through this very decision this morning at Two Chicks. Talked my husband into grits. Theirs are definitely the rich, creamy, myocardial infarction-inducing variety. .

Broken egg cafe has great grits, they crumble a little bacon in their and it’s amazing. I think blue cheese instead of cheddar would make for a nice gastronomical experience.
