Frank is very serious about masks and social distancing. He posts a lot about that. He has a small restaurant not set up for distancing. If he does that, very few can eat inside. The percentage is another hurdle.

Interesting ideas for both. Def will order to go from Brigtsen's. Gris Gris concept is interesting, but probably will need a pre-existing social group to take advantage of it ($1200 min will require at least 8-10 people to make it work).

would work for small office party

Chef Eric Cook's latest. It's a video on Facebook. I assume you can see it if his page is public. I don't know any other way to post it.

Figured I'd bump this thread as a we ended up doing one of the private dinners at Gris Gris last week. I originally was a little reticent to jump in to the $1200 commitment, but we had 16 of us together for a few different celebrations so I figured it would work itself out pretty well.

Throughout the whole process, the staff was excellent. Once you decide on the exact sort of service you want (there are a few options based on booze/wine, courses, etc) you basically get to build the menu with Chef Cook. We went for the four course offering with wine pairings.

They pretty much gave me carte blanche to plan as much of the meal or as little as I wanted. I put the menu we went with at the bottom of the post. There were opportunities for more adventurous entree offerings for sure (Chef Cook mentioned potentially doing a duck dish that sounded outstanding), but I went with filet and fish.

In addition to the wine pairings, I gave their barman Ethan some favorites of our group, and he planned specialty cocktails in addition to the normal bar offerings.

We essentially had run of the whole place when there and were able to explore the outdoor areas over drinks before starting service. Chef Cook was out frequently checking on the meal and holding court which was really entertaining.

The food itself was very, very good. I'm not one to normally order steak at a restaurant (and filet is not my normal cut of choice), but the wife wanted fish so I went the other way so we could try both. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had (and the veggies it was served with were delicious). Other standouts for me were the gumbo and the Oyster BLT.

We were there for over four hours. Came out to $120/head pre-tip. Cannot recommend highly enough - it was a very fun, boosy meal with friends.

First course and third course was a choice of one or the other. Second and fourth courses were served family style so everyone got to have a nice portion of everything.

$120 included booze? If so, that's really a great deal for his cooking. I have had Brightsen's take-out and its very good.

Thanks for sharing that. Sounds like a great deal when everyone is pitching in. A 4 hour fun meal with good food and friends is certainly worth that price.

Yes. That's pre tax/tip but was the base rate. I was shocked how good of a deal it was even after the fact. Would have gladly paid that just for the food and wine pairing.

If anyone on here plans on doing it and needs an extra couple, let me know. Definitely wouldn't have to twist my arm to do that again. Just might slow down on the booze a bit this time.
