What is the earliest you baws have seen fresh peanuts out in La or Ms?
Many years ago it was always assumed you wouldn’t see them until early fall. It seems like I’ve been able to get them in late July the last three or four years.

Yep. I usually eat the hell out of them while sitting on the balcony on a late summer trip to the beach.
The old funny lady who usually sells boiled peanuts at the Stennis exit off I10 hasn't been there the last two times I've driven past lately.

I’ve always associated the green peanuts with late summer/fall. May be early, but I don’t know. Produce stands like Fresh Pickens always have them in season as do many groceries. If you want to boil often, check the local farmer markets and maybe you’ll find a farmer who has them.

Freshway Produce on Old Canton Road in Ridgeland has had then for almost a month now.

They have green peanuts. A great big mound of them, for sale by the pound.
They also sell dried peanuts by the 2-3 pound mesh bag. I buy both. The green guys to boil and the dried ones to roast.
What they have right now are the thinner ones with three or maybe four nuts in the shell. The big ones with only one or two won't show up here until maybe late September or more likely, October.
I asked if they were any good and the lady told me to try one. They might get angry if just anyone did that, but we are good customers, so good they know me by name. I didn't buy any, but they were good.
When I was a kid (over half a hundred years ago) you never saw them until fall. I suspect these came from south Mexico or South America.

Thanks for the update.
I will be around Hattisburg in a week or two, so I'm going to call around when I get there and find me a produce stand that has them. I will probably just buy 15 pounds for now.
When the jumbos come in, I will sometimes by a 30 pound sack.
