Green mountain grills on sale until Friday

I searched, but didn't see a thread.
If anyone is in the market for a pellet grill, GMG is having a big holiday sale. I just picked up a Jim Bowie with wifi for $699, and they're usually $999. You have to get them from a authorized dealer, which can be hard to find (see their website to find them). But they're easily the best pellet grill for the money.
Here's an ad from a random dealer...

Son of a bitch! I got my Daniel Boone (no wifi) at the beginning of the summer for $560
And now the stainless steel with wifi is $524?!
If you're in the market for a great smoker, this is an absolute no brainer.

Yep. I just returned my Louisiana grill to Costco, because of an electrical problem. My timing couldn't have been better. Unless you're willing to spend huge money on a Yoder, Rectec or Memphis, it's the best sub $1000 pellet grill out there.
I actually had to order mine. I'll have to wait a week to get it. I was tempted to get the Daniel Boone. But after having 35 people at Thanksgiving dinner, and having football and Mardi Gras parties, I figured I wouldn't regret the Jim Bowie's size. It's not like with the WSM, where I'd have to use a ton of coal to heat it up. With pellets, the difference is negligible.
I'm looking forward to getting the pizza oven attachment. I've been wanting to make wood fired pizzas. But a pizza oven is pretty damn expensive. This looks like a great option to have an oven that will cook over 900° that won't break the bank.

I've got a condo balcony so the Boone was the right size for me. But space not being an issue, I'd have strongly considered the Bowie. If you think about the fact that a mid level Weber gas grill is about $500-$700, these prices are almost laughably low.

I wasn't aware that you could get these grills that hot. How long does it take to get to 800+? So searing a steak would be no problem???

That's with the stainless lid (for $1000.00). I think you can get the black steel lid for $100 bucks less. But yeah, for $700 bucks that's a great price. That's actually what I paid for mine almost 2 years ago (with the ss lid) but my SIL worked at a dealer and got me that price.

I think he's talking about the pizza oven getting that hot. The pit only gets to 500*.

Does anyone have any experience with Green Cajun Grills in Port Allen? They're listed as my nearest brick and mortar.
ETA. The Green Mountain site has it pointing to some guys house.

When I started researching pellet grills a few years ago, I saw that my nearest dealer was in Port Allen too. I never investigated the place though because the conversation came up with my brother about me leaning towards GMG and he told me they sell them where his wife works, which was in Gulfport, Ms. Long story short, that's where mine came from.
I'd recommend you calling them to get a more accurate dealer location than what their website shows. 1-800-603-3398

There stainless lid is usually $1099 and black wifi is $999. Look a little closer at the flier.

Nice. Nothing like a good connection.

Exactly. It traps the heat from the firebox, and gets it blazing hot.
Looking at some literature i found, i guess I'm off on 900°+. Here's what gmg says...
But getting an oven up to 800-850 is pretty legit. I must've gotten that temperature from reviews that said the shot that with an infrared thermometer. But with a range from 550-850, that's good for any pizza style, from Detroit to New York to Neapolitan.
And it's been too long since I've lived in a city with New Yorkers. And while I'll eat any almost pizza, chain pizza is pretty much garbage.
And yeah, I'll definitely try it out on steaks. Though i think high end steakhouses use a 1800° broiler. It'll definitely be fun to experiment.

That would've been a great idea. I had to drive 30 minutes from my jobsite during my lunch break, and it's 45 minutes from my house. So picking it up will be a bit of a bitch.

Mine came from the burbs, and I think it cost me maybe $50 to have it delivered. Worth every penny to avoid the hassle, as the thing is not small. And mine came completely assembled.

I do remember that now. Confession: I didn't look at the flier.

What do you think would be better a green mountain or green egg?
Posted on 11/28/18 at 10:59 am to Chucktown_Badger
A dnya glo and $200. I wouldn't mind spending the additional $200 on one of these though.

I was thinking about adding a pellet smoker to the arsenal for easy cooking for weeknights. I was looking at the Yoders, MAK's and some of the other thicker insulated grills, but functional wifi control is very important to me.
Is the GMG in the same class as the Yoders, MAk's, RecTecs..etc.

I can confirm you won't regret it.
Being able to start a brisket late at night, go to bed, and be 8 hours into the smoke when you wake up the next morning is glorious. And it puts out great BBQ.

I can't speak to the other grills but I've been very happy with mine, and I believe these prices are a fraction of the others you listed. I've read that the wifi can be a bit glitchy, but they might have figured that out since I saw those reviews. And for the price, why not go for it?

No. Those are much nicer. But also much more expensive. At least 2-3x as expensive. If i ever reach OT baller status, yeah. But the cheapest Yoder is $1400, and the cheapest MAK is $1700. Rec Tec does have a sale on their $1400 low end that's $900 that's the size of the Daniel Boone. But the Jim Bowie's size, it's still $1200.
But from the research I've done, GMG makes the best under $1000 pellet grills. Definitely more highly regarded than Traegars from people that have owned both.
I've only owned a Louisiana grill (LG-700). It was it good. But had an electrical grounding issue, so i returned it. I might have tried to fix it, if not for seeing this sale on GMG.
