As requested.
I made this with chopped smoked turkey, but you can make it with any kind of meat. The turkey came out great. Below is the recipe unchanged, but I usually add a small amount of chili powder and hot sauce.
1/4 cup butter
1 lb ground sirloin
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp fresh chopped garlic
1/8 tsp pepper
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp basil
2 TBS flour
1 cup evaporated milk
8 oz can tomato sauce
Melt butter and brown ground beef, green pepper, onion, garlic, herbs, salt and pepper. Drain when done. Add flour and stir then add milk and cook until thick. Then add tomato sauce and cook until starting the brown. Stir often.
Enjoy!

It doesn't look like "good ole fashion sloppy joes", too light/blonde. Not saying granny didn't know how to cook, just I prefer a sloppy joe to be a little "rusty" colored and made with beef.

Is it really that yellow or just looks like that in the picture?

I think the pic and the turkey might have washed this out a bit. It was brown. Also its not a manwich meal.

Never even tasted manwich. The recipe I grew up with is a lot like the one you posted, minus flour, evaporated milk, and the blonde color.

Minus the white stuff (milk and flour), looks like my grandma's recipe for "spoonburgers." She used chili powder too.
