Outback, mate.

I tried Outback twice. Both times, the steak was about 1/4" thick and solid grey throughout. Never again.

Outback is decent although they can be inconsistent.

In the early 90's, Outback was an above average restaurant. Steaks were hand selected (yes, this is true), portions were huge and almost everything was prepared from scratch.

Today, Outback is a shell of its former self. Quality, portion size and consistency have been taken over by cost saving measures.

I had a ribeye from Outback last week that was pretty damn good. Was really surprised. Late dinner next to hotel after being on road all day.

I think Outback was good until the mid 2000's. But you're 100% right about the present day version.

I've found the steaks at Texas Roadhouse off Seigen to be surprisingly decent

This ^^^^

Used to love going to Outback for the 20 ounce Prime Rib seasoned and seared to Medium Rare. Haven't been to one in over five years as their quality has been greatly diminished over the years.

trying to eat a lot of protein. Craving rib eye steaks.

Doe's.

Sometimes I want a really good steak and I'll hit up one of the high end steakhouses, but more often than not when I have a steak craving I just want to pummel a 2+ pound porterhouse and Doe's delivers just that.

Outside of cooking one at home, I found this to be the best bang for my buck for steaks. I always pick a monster ribeye from the case, salad & loaded potato for ~$25.

Sure I can get a better steak at Ruth's, 18Steak, etc and often do but it's never 2-3 times better to justify the cost.
