Bulldog is a good choice. Can take the streetcar or Uber.

Others would include
Tracys
Cooter Browns
Walk Ons
Rusty Nail

Not much in the way of actual sports bars and I try to stay away from downtown and FQ bars as much as possible.

Bulldog as stated, Finn McCools, Bayou Beer Garden are all along or near Canal and fit the bill.

Talking about The Bulldog, is anyone kind of surprised they haven't tried to get an imprint either Downtown or in the FQ? Kind of figured that would be a smart move for them.

Canal and what? It's a fairly long street. A lot of mid city recs in this thread.

Yeah, I assumed he was staying downtown, but everyone was giving Mid City recs.

If you want to stay downtown, you probably won't find a whole lot of LSU baseball fans around there, but Ryans on Decatur can be a decent place to watch games. You could also consider places like Mannings or Walk Ons if you want something more corporate type, but those aren't really my thing.

They'd probably do well downtown with the happy hour crowd, but a large chunk of those people probably live closer to the other locations and visit them anyway.

Rusty Nail. The rest of the suggestions are cool, but for your situation. Rusty Nail is the only real answer.
