got a turkey tonight in the grocery store that was not frozen
do i need to freeze this and then thaw early next week, or will it be fine in the fridge?
i'd rather not freeze then thaw, just want to be sure this is safe

If the bag isn't leaking, I think you're good. When I did frozen turkeys, I would move them to the fridge to thaw the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Now I buy the fresh-frozen ones that just have a thin layer of ice over them and aren't frozen solid. They thaw more quickly.

After reading a little, you may want to refreeze it for a couple days. 7 days is stretching when you don't know how long it has been thawed already.

Look at the "Sell By" date and see what it says and go from there.

If it says "Sell By 11/24/20" then you should be good to go and let it sit in the fridge if the packaging is still solid.

I agree with this.

USDA says buy fresh 1-2 days prior to cooking.

If it were me I would put in freezer until Sunday night though...
