Fresh Market Meat On Sale

This might be of interest to those that live close to a Fresh Market. Fresh Market over here in Daphne, AL has USDA Premium Choice whole filets on sale for $9.99 LB. I bought two whole filets, fat and thick from end to end, that the butcher picked out for me. The butcher cut 22 2" thick filets and what could not be utilized for steaks was ground into filet mignon hamburger meat. I'm going to vacuum seal them and throw into the freezer. I probably got 3 LB of hamburger meat. The sale runs 2-4 PM today and tomorrow. They also had buy one pound get one free on their bacon for $6.99 LB. Their bacon is a lot better than the prepackaged kind and for $3.50 LB you can’t beat that for high quality bacon. When I cook it very little grease is left and it’s real meaty. I’m not sure if all Fresh Markets are running this sale but some of those filets looked more like USDA Prime to me. They ran a special on Premium Choice New York Strips about a month ago if you bought the whole strip and I got 11 1.5” thick steaks for $6.99 LB. I think their steaks are of high quality. You probably can’t buy decent ribeye at $9.99 LB at most reputable grocery stores. USDA Choice Premium only makes up 5% of the beef industry. Fresh Market is expensive but when they offer bulk steak specials it’s pretty cheap for the quality of meat you get.

I have noticed very little difference in their choice and prime. Their choice meats are very well marbled.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to go over there tomorrow and pick one up. That's a damn good price.

Correct. Their Premium Choice is pretty close to USDA Prime. It’s a lot better than regular USDA Choice which is the bulk of what most normal grocery stores sell.
USDA Prime was on sell for $13.99 LB which is also a good price. I think Prime only makes up about 2% of the beef sold in America.
I don’t think very many people on this board know how good Fresh Markets beef is.

I bought one today in BR. They trimmed it and it will be cooked whole tomorrow on my green egg. The Baton Rouge location has gotten better. I think it’s getting more traffic in it.

I just got one. I figured they pre trimmed it. I didn't expect him to crack one open, trim it, and cut it to my thickness. Pretty legit deal.
I'll do a reverse sear using my pellet cooker, then vacuum seal the rest.
Thanks OP!

I bought mine there yesterday for $9.99. I just cut it in half and will light my egg in an hour or so. Probably cut the other half in steaks for during the week. Making a chimichurri now.

It was only from 12-4 pm yesterday and today. At least that's what their website said when I checked.

I took advantage of this. They ground the trimmings for me. What should I do with them? Does filet trimmings make a good burger?

Absolutely. Just don’t get corrupted by the Burger thread.
