First time trying, got some beans at Whole Foods and really enjoying them. Some kind of holiday blend. I really like Reve in Lafayette and this stuff is definitely right up there.
what do you guys think?

I’m a big fan. Always go to the one on Government in BR when I’m in town.

French Truck is one the better roasters in the state. I like them along with Reve. Be sure to check the dates on the stuff at Whole Foods, I’ve seen some old stuff in there.

Some the best beans in the city. I now can roll into Petite Rouge in the morning and grab cup, which I did.

One of my favorite coffee places in town.

for sure, thankfully it was roasted on 11/15 so still very fresh

They procure really good beans from around the world and roast them on site in new Orleans and baton rouge. The time from roast to grind to cup makes a huge difference in a cup, along with brewing technique. They do it all right.

I exclusively buy my beans from French Truck in BR. Easily the best of what I've found locally.
ETA: I generally prefer the single source Central American stuff, but the lady prefers La Belle Noir, so we've been drinking that for a few months. It's actually a medium roast, contrary to what the name and packaging might initially suggest, so don't skip over it inadvertently.

Better how, exactly? Better sources? Better blends? Better roasting process?

Better sources (greens)
Higher quality
Better roasting
Single Origins, not blends.

Cafeciteaux, French Truck and Reve all roast some great beans.

I'm definitely a fan of single origin... I was a member of blue bottle's mail service for a while and got the single origin but was tough to swallow paying $20 for a small bag of coffee that was crushed in a week. I know BB got bought out by nestle but their stuff was great at one time (still probably is). Ceremony coffee is another roaster that I like but I will check out some of those that you recommended.

BB is trash. Ceremony is solid and better than Reve.
Sweet Bloom gives you tremendous quality at fair prices. Report back. I'm drinking their Ethiopia and Kenya right now.
