You act like this was a training opportunity on my behalf? The manager is supposed to do the training, or the chef school for olive garden in Tuscanny, NOT ME. I am the customer

Similar story. While out of town a few weeks back I stopped at Taco Bell for dinner. For some reason the morons that work there don't know the difference between a taco and a taco supreme.

So I'm handed my order, check it, and of course 3 regular tacos at taco supreme prices. Filled with rage I entered the store.

Dumping the contents of the bag on the counter, I launched into a verbal assault on the workers, all probably 16-17 year old kids. As they were crying whole fixing my order, I screamed at the manager for a while. I was offered hundreds in free coupons.

One of the workers, the youngest one probably, handed me my order. I looked it over, chucked it in the trash, and walked out. I wasn't even hungry

I used to go to Sonic every Saturday morning after bartending the night before. I'd wake up about 10:20, get to Sonic by 10:45, and be back home and settled in for the early SEC football coverage at 11:00.

I usually tipped whatever change was left plus 3 dollars. This for a $6 combo.

Ordered same thing every week, and I think I had a different server every week. Double cheese, hold the onions, mustard and mayo. Tots and a fruit punch.

I really miss those days...

Beggin your pardon Queen LL, but the manager was working the drive thru that night. Dude was every bit of 27, and caucasian,

i love how polarizing these threads get .. and the last time i went to outback .. it wasn't exactly cheap .. so expecting quality service in there is not too much to ask ... it is called the SERVICE INDUSTRY for a reason ... nothing more annoying than bellying up to a bar and sitting there for 10 minutes while the oblivious little bartender is on the other end enthralled with trying to work some chick on the other side of the bar ... but i blame the manager on duty just as much as the bartender .. if the manager can't spot that going on and do something about it before it becomes a major problem, then why are they a manager ?

I honestly don't even remember the OP I forgot what the bartender did. All I remember is him ordering "a beer". I'm sure his service was sucky though or else he wouldn't have been comped.

I have been to Outback exactly once in my life. It's never crossed my radar as a place to go.

yeah .. the OP should have just named a beer brand instead of just saying "beer" .. but at that point, he was frustrated .. why is he a "count" but the bartender isn't that ignored him up until the point of this infamous "beer" incident ? and to me, when a manager has to comp an entire meal, 8 times out of 10, they themselves weren't doing their job while service was going on, otherwise it would never reach that point ..

From my previous post

you sound like a count IMO

A: This is not the OT, so chill out a little.
I agree, should have explained more.

quote:

B: What in the world did he do wrong?

quote:

Asks what I want and I say, 'a beer'
Sounds like he's just trying to be a dick here. Why not, "What kind of beers to you have on tap? in bottles?"

also, you're sitting at the bar, the service is going to be less than sitting at a table.

quote:

I'm totally ignored
I would have ignored him also. Sure you want good service at a resturant but hell you also should show a tad of respect to your server.

Just my opinion...

I never said a damn thing about training, I have no idea where you came up up with that.

All I said is the situation should be handled like a reasonable, civil adult. I've seen plenty of orders gone wrong. If it's not too bad of a screwup, like they forgot to put cheese on a burger, I'll let it fly. If it's pretty bad, I'll go back and inform them of the error. They fix what was wrong, and if I'm feeling extra upset about it I'll ask for something free, like an extra burger or two. To me there's absolutely no point in getting so worked up over things that your blood pressure rises or getting to the point of yelling, cursing, and being an arse.

My mom used to do that to places. She waited 15 minutes for 5 burgers from Burger King one time (feeding the family) and when she got the burgers they were cold. Indicating that the "kitchen" was doing okay but the service part wasn't.. she got down, went inside, and bitched and yelled and griped for 10-15 minutes until they gave her 15 fricking hamburgers for free. 15!! We had hamburgers for days But at the expense of being an a-hole. I just don't like doing that sort of thing.

I don't think this is a case where anyone is right or wrong anyway. It's a matter of what kind of diner you are. I'm sure complainers hate people like me that let everything slide by. And I hate them for complaining too much.

Uh yeah. Going to a restaurant and not saying a word about a "piss-poor" waiter, and then giving them a "ridiculously" high tip, screws it up for the next customer. The waiter / bartender thinks they're piss poor job of waiting is acceptable because they just got away with it with you.

You blow up on your friends when they're not satisfied with the waiter, yet you won't say a word to the waiter when the service is subpar?

i disagree about the level of service at the bar .. we eat at the bar 95% of the time because it is the total opposite .. you get far better service at the bar than you do on the floor .. the bartender is generally an older, former wait person themselves and they genuinely appreciate decent tips ... most people sit at the bar to drink and eat because of the service they generally get at a bar .. if i get some little shite that is ignorant and oblivious to the customers around them behind a bar, i am surprised ...

and i was both a wait person and a bartender ... you can't sit on your arse and visit behind the bar or it will swallow you whole ..
