I will be at Fort Polk for a couple of weeks. I will venture out(I know that isn't saying much in this area) for a good dinner once or twice. What is there?

DeRidder - Steamboat bills, Cecil's, Presley's, Thai Basil, Mi Rancho

Leesville - First thing that comes to mind is Hana Japanese steakhouse (hibachi). I'm sure there are more but I'm not too familiar with the restaurant scene in Leesville.

There is a Chinese buffet in Leesville that was pretty decent when I went there a couple/few years ago. It's in the shopping center behind the Checker's. I think there is also a Fox Pizza in that center. It was like a lot of chinese buffets in Houston. I think the buffets all get their food from the same distributor.

If you are into the beer scene there is a burger place that has damn good burgers a surprising selection of beers (especially for Leesville). It is on the same road as the movie theater.

It's been a while, but there used to be a couple of Korean joints. I think I heard POWs were moved there during the Korean War and some established there. Kalbee House was one. Other than that, maybe the Catfish Hut in Deridder.
