Looking for some food recommendations for a spur of the moment NYC trip in two weeks. Will be there for 4 nights, and With it being only a couple of weeks out I understand reservations at some of the top spots wont be available for dinner. So far I have on the list:
Scarpetta
Gramercy Tavern
Eleven Madison Park (wait list)
looking for good lunch/brunch spots as well.
Thanks in advance
ETA: Forgot to mention, staying in Midtown Manhattan, but willing to venture far for good food.

ask upscale locals about places in China Town and Little Italy
...it has been a few years so I am not sure what's hot

Tried Gramercy tavern a few weeks ago based on a recommendation from here. It did not disappoint and the price was reasonable for NYC.

Hit up Ma Peche/Momofuku Milk Bar for a mid day. You can walk in around cocktail hour, get some famous food and drink from Chang, grab a couple of snacks from Momofuku to go, walk out into Central Park and eat them. Then go back to your room and rest up for an evening of dining.
I can't really tell you where to go in NYC for dinner. Too many fantastic places to eat.

The Dutch has an awesome brunch. Balthazar is also good. Know that alcohol isn't served on Sundays before noon (I think it's noon).
