Go to Pecan Lodge. I haven't been in about 4 years but check out Cane Rosso if you want pizza. Next door to that is a New Orleans bar (unless that's changed) that you can go grab a drink while you wait for your table.

In that area

Pecan Lodge
Velvet Taco
Biscuit Bar
HG Supply Co.
Rapscallion
The Grape (burger)

Get to pecan lodge early or you'll be in line for a while.

All of these are along Greenville avenue and within 10 minutes of SMU

Desperados (mexican)
St Martin's for a nicer dinner (french)
The Grape (french)
Rapscallion (american/southern)
Teppo (sushi)

I don't think I could justify looking over that menu and ordering a burger.

The mushroom soup is a must there though.

You should try it. It's pretty solid.

Outside of Pecan Lodge, the top two restaurants in Dallas right now are probably Town Hearth (swanky steakhouse in Design District) and Sachet (upscale Mediterranean near Highland Park).

Dallas also has an Uchi, which is always great.

I think it won best burger in Texas a decade or so ago, and now they only serve it on certain days since it was so popular

Oh I don't doubt it's great, they just always have such a great menu that it's tough to order a burger there.

Yes, still amazing. At the one in Oak Lawn near me there is a proposal to rip up the entire block that Eatzi's is on along with the Shell station & parking lot & build a high rise apt complex with a brand new Eatzi's anchoring the bottom floor. This is going to be interesting.
