I agree with the Bottega Cafe reccs but would also note that I think Bottega (what we used to call Big Bottega) is currently the finest restaurant in the city. It is truly outstanding. That said, I usually eat on the cafe side even when having a nice meal. And reservations are generally required. But Bottega is worth going to if you’ve never been, and they are currently at the top of their game in terms of overall experience.

I am also a huge fan of Automatic. And love Helen.

Does anyone know if they allow cigar smoking at either of the hotel rooftop bars downtown?

Don’t know about Moon Shine. The one on top of Redmont used to, but haven’t been up there much since they got renovated and new ownership.

If you haven’t done Armor House yet, definitely check it out. I think I like it more than Helen now (and I love Helen). Last time we went, my wife got their beef tenderloin and it was killer. Lapeer is a new steakhouse that opened up a few months ago. It was very good as well.

Definitely need to check this out.

Will have to wait for client dinner or something. I’m too cheap to pay high end steak house prices on my own dime.

This place is in Pelham (just north of there on I65). I have never had it but have heard good things. In case you want to support your fellow Louisianans.

Used to go by there several times a month when I worked in Pelham. Great folks who don't look at you funny when you order an Andygator with your lunch.

Tried this out Monday night with the wife and it was fantastic. I liked it a lot better than armour house

The variety and quality of oysters was phenomenal, cool little atmosphere and great service. I’d also add the pogo bar to the downtown list as well. It’s underneath armour house and really cool place
