Portions are generous and the food is solid.

My god I dont know how many horrible meals I had at Buffalo Wild Wings when my kids were growing up, Walkons is Galatoires compared to Wild Wings.

It is criticized because for the first half decade of its existence it was wretched and the owners admitted that. That's why they finally hired an executive chef.

That's what happened? I wondered cause the first few times I went, I thought it was awful. Last few times I've went and it has been very good. I feel they have one of the top three burgers in BR.

Teh first time I ate there was in 2004 I think, and I would definitely say I've never been served anything approaching "wretched."

This board has an unhealthy obsession with shitting on Walk Ons.

The adjective aside, this is what Jack and Brandon said about it when they hired Coco.

quote:

Jack Warner has heard all the stories about the inconsistency at Walk-On’s. Warner will be the first to admit that the food has been an afterthought in the restaurant and bar’s decade-long run.

“If you liked our étouffée or gumbo one day, you might get something completely different the next day,” Warner says. “We messed up so many things repeatedly. Now, we’ve figured out a lot of things, but we have an opportunity to grow on the food side.”

To improve on the kitchen and culinary aspects of Walk-On’s, Warner and Brandon Landry’s Last in Concepts have hired Chef Jeremy Coco as its director of culinary operations and training. Coco will primarily focus on developing the menu and training staff at all Walk-On’s locations.

That's the history I was referencing. Nothing more. Totally different place today. Food is much, much more consistent. I would say it is pretty good now. The people that bash it largely are drawing on the pre-2013 experience (and likely well before that even).

Agreed. I ate there fairly regularly while in school (04-08) and I never had a problem with the food. Always thought the fried pickles were some of the best I had. Cheese fries and burgers good too.

I was a poor, drunk college kid, though, so that could have contributed to my opinion.

Ok I know I’ve been in here taking up for WalkOns but their current fried pickles are horrible. Sliced paper thin, which you’d think would be good, but they disintegrate and you’re only eating batter. Huge pool of oil in the plate too.

Pulled Pork sandwich is my favorite. And finish it off with the Krispy Crème Bread Pudding.
Bon Apetit!

I get the Mardi Gras mahi, blackened mahi mahi over their cheese grits. Yum!

First time at Walk-on(towncenter) checking in. I had the mahi mahi. I thought it was good. I was there shortly after opening, so service was great.

Buffalo chicken wrap, venison chili nachos, cheese fries (with banana peppers!) all good.
My go-to's here.

It's bar food, reasonably priced and pretty damn good actually.
